Hello and welcome to the home of The Animal Sanctuary UK
For People and Animals with Special Needs
Here at The Animal Sanctuary UK for people and animals
with special needs, we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home
where possible. Animals who cannot be re-homed, are with us for life.
Cruelty and neglect seem to be constantly on the increase.
These poor creatures are literally dumped at our gate, broken,
emaciated, often beaten and terrified of humans.
Last year we rescued 384 animals and rehomed 299.
To enable us to achieve more, we need additional
funding from all you animal loving people out there.
Together, let’s stamp out cruelty.
Help us to help them.

***OUR APPLICATION FOR BELL FARM, ETON WICK HAS BEEN ACCEPTED***
We are so grateful to the RBW&M, who along with the local residents have accepted our application for Bell Farm, Eton Wick. We will now be able to continue our work with rescuing and re-homing animals and also helping all our special needs volunteers. We will update more details asap
We are reaching out to all of those who care as much as we do about the welfare of animals to help with this effort. We are asking the very generous public to assist us with some short term funds which we really need to continue our valuable work for animals in need. DONATIONS of whatever size you can manage will be gratefully accepted and deeply appreciated. We are receiving so many requests for help and our funds are DEPLETING fast. We are totally dependent on donations, legacies and grants from organizations to keep the sanctuary running. Unlike the larger charities we have NO RESERVES of money and are always desperately short of funds. We have an open-door policy for taking in at risk or injured animals and our small band of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to find new ways of funding the sanctuary’s work. Lots of money is needed to care for these animals, which can be around 300 at any time, before the right forever home is found and with your help we hope to raise enough to cover running costs, which currently runs at approx £1800 per week. Please encourage anybody thinking of getting a new pet to consider providing a forever home to one of our residents and help us build a community that has all of the principles in place to deliver the highest level of compassionate care to surrendered, abandoned and abused animals. Help us to help them, please.

***************Thank you for your support!***************
Here you can learn all about the animals we care for and the work we do. People Helping Animals, Animals Helping People – our together therapy. We are a sanctuary for abused animals and a therapeutic facility for special needs children and adults. The object remains to re-home all animals whenever possible in order to find the space to accommodate newcomers. Where it appears to be impossible to re-home an animal through ill health or temperament, the Animal Sanctuary UK will offer a permanent home where people with special needs come to enjoy them. We aim to provide therapeutic experiences for members of the public suffering from stress, depression and disability through being together with, and caring for, animals. Not only do we rescue a lot of animals that have no-where else to go, we are developing the Animal Sanctuary UK to give therapy to special needs children and adults. We offer the opportunity for groups of local schoolchildren to visit the Animal Sanctuary UK and we also take animals into schools so that the children can learn how they should be treated. We also visit residential homes for the elderly. Most of the animals at the Animal Sanctuary UK were orphaned, neglected, or abused. We have found that through interaction with animals, children from troubled homes learn strength, forgiveness, courage, trust, empathy, and kindness. When we relay the animals’ stories to visiting children, it helps them relate to their own situations. Exploring with children how our abused animals have learned to forgive and overcome their pasts. Animals, with their unconditional love and non-judgmental attitude, can often reach children more deeply and effectively than people can. The responses that the children have when they connect with the animals is always positive. They then can become role models. We are conscious that a significant number of people suffer from anxiety, depression, self-harming and other forms of stress – the problems of which can often be alleviated by contact with, or caring for, animals. We have an increasing number of such people who join us as volunteers and we see the improvement in their situations as they spend time with us. We have been at the Dorney site since June 2012 and are extremely grateful for the huge amount of support we have from all the kind and generous people in the area. Due mainly to the continuing recession hit and also in part to our easy access location, the number of abused and unwanted animals has soared.
